Just Me and the Boys

So a lot has happened this last week and I'll do my best to get you up to date on our lives (but try to follow along 'cause I'm going to work backwards). First of all I must say that I have been spoiled rotten for my birthday this week. Last night, Jon and I went to the Steve Nash Charity Classic basketball game at GM Place in Vancouver with two of our good friends, Jeff and Kevin. It was a sweet game with lots of ridiculous dunks and "show-off moves." Bedouin Sound Clash played at half time and to add to all the entertainment, there was a young kid sitting a few rows in front of us that was dancing his heart out....it was absolutely hilarious! I thought Jon was going to die he was laughing so hard! It was truly a fun evening and its always awesome to get to see the great Canadian Steve, play ball!
On Friday (which was my real birthday...and no, I really don't feel any older) I got to spend the morning at Cultus Lake with a bunch of my girlfriends and my sister. It has been RIDICULOUSLY hot as we've been experiencing a heat wave for the last week or two and so the cold water felt unbelievably refreshing!
We soaked up the sun for a good part of the morning and afternoon and then I went home to spend some time with my hubby seeing as he got off work early. We went to the mall for a bit (enjoyed the air conditioning) and then he took me for a really nice dinner at Bozzini's. And then later in the evening, his parents took us out to Dairy Queen for "birthday ice-cream" :)
It really ended up being an awesome birthday! Oh and I can't forget the fun fondue party my friends had for me on Thursday night! We all got together at Jen's for some serious fruit and chocolate and caramel! It was so delicious and I must say that there is never a lack of laughter and "goofiness" when us girls get together! Thanks again girls for such a great night!

Work, work and more work

The day was long but very successful. My boss Kathy and I had a lot to accomplish at the office today and after a rough morning and the fear of "everything going wrong," things seemed to pan out as the day went on. For those of you who don't know, I work at an interior design firm and we're just starting on another new set of clients and jobs. We recently completed the show suites and interior finishes for the new retirement home here in Chilliwack (Hampton House). Everything turned out great and I feel very privileged to be learning from such a gifted designer. We are now starting on the new homes going up on Promontory (Cecil Ridge), as well as another assisted living/retirement home in Mission (Carrington Place). So today was a day dedicated to colour boards! We spent the entire day putting together three huge colour boards for Cecil Ridge which show three different interior options for the people buying the homes. It was a long day of painting, organizing, placing and glueing :) But we finally got them done and were quite pleased with how they turned out! Hopefullly they'll gain approval from the marketing people :)
So although it was a long day, I still came out of it feeling very grateful for the incredible job I have, and am looking forward to starting full-time with the firm as of the end of August! (By the way...these are just a few pics I found online to give you an idea of what I was doing today...these are not actually my colour boards...but you get the idea!)

The best things about babies

Ok so I must confess that I am MORE than frustrated with this whole "not being able to post pictures" right now but hopefully I'll figure it out soon. Anyway...as soon as I do, I have THE cutest pictures to show you of a certain little girl named Adia. My friend Laurie had her baby last week and a bunch of us girls went out for coffee with her and her new little bundle of joy today and let me tell you....SO CUTE!! She is absolutely precious...almost makes me want one of my very own...oh wait...ok so not really. But I sure enjoy holding other people's cute kids. And I'm pretty sure I'll just stick to that for a LONG time.....seems to work well ;)
And my sister-in-law Naomi is due in August so we get to have another little one around soon! That is really hard to believe because it seems like just yesterday that our nephew Konrad was born. But he is already two years old and FULL of energy! Its going to be fun to be aunt and uncle for the second time..."Auntie Body" and "Unca Jon" as Konrad calls us :) Anyway...I just want to say a huge congratulations to Laurie and Kurt...we love Adia to pieces already and wish you guys all the best in your years ahead as parents!

HELP!!

Hello there fellow bloggers! Wondering if you can help me out. Jon and I just bought the new I Mini Apple and I am having a tough time posting pictures from the computer. Does anyone know how I can do so? I read on the blogger site that Mac's are compatible but it said something about having to use formatting or something to post pictures manually. Anyway...with me being so new at this, I could use your help. Please comment if you have any words of wisdom :) Thanks!

Adventures at Castle Fun Park

Ok, so does anyone else hate the rain we are getting out here in the lower mainland? I mean, I know we need it but it just spoils things when you're already in summer mode. This last weekend, we had made plans to go to Harrison on Sunday with my sister...you know, soak up some rays...try to diminish some of our white skin...but when we got out of church there was nothing but dismal skies and the threat of rain. So instead of Harrison, we had to settle for Abbotsford. I can't complain though because it actually ended up being a lot of fun! Jon, myself, my sister Viv and our good friends Jen and Kevin all went and played a little mini-golf at good ol Castle Fun Park. Needless to say I am far worse than I like to admit...we had some good laughs! Unfortunately neither Viv or I seem to have acquired the putting skills that our dad and brother Craig have. And I think I would rather stick to real golf...I seem to be more successful when I can actually "swing" at the ball.
Anyway...after mini-golf we got some ice-cream at the Dairy Queen and then headed back to the 'Wack. I'll add some pictures of our Abbotsford adventure once I have them on the computer!

Let the blogging begin...

Ok, so apparently this whole blogging thing is where its at so I thought, why not give it a try. It seems to be quite popular and I like the idea of family and friends being able to see what's new with us without me having to send out boring mass emails and spending a mint with sending photos through snail mail. So alas, I guess you could say I am taking the "blogging plunge." And what better time to do it than now because we finally took the other "plunge" and just bought a new computer. I suppose we are opening a new chapter in our lives with this whole thing which is also appropriate as we are just coming up on our 1st wedding anniversary (August 7). So we'll give this a whirl!
