Food, Family & Fun...what more could one ask for!?

This evening we had Erich, Naomi and the kids over for supper. It was really nice because our schedules have been packed lately and we haven't had much opportunity to just hang out with them. (Plus it is always a bonus to get to see our niece and nephew--who seem to grow bigger and bigger with each passing second!). This evening really made me appreciate once again, my job at the design firm because I truly could not ask for better hours. I work 8:30am-3:00pm--which means I get home early enough to do all the things I need to, as well as make supper by a decent time... and this means that "entertaining" can be a reality and can be done with great ease and enjoyment. I would definitely consider myself a "social butterfly," so to be able to host friends and family is such a pleasurable thing for me, and my job at the office is making it more and more easy.
It was such a great evening! Good food (thankfully my attempt at one of my mom's recipes was successful!), good company, and lots of giggles from Konrad, who had a BLAST with his very favorite Uncle Jon!
Thanks again for a great evening Erich and Naomi! It was awesome to have you guys over and we hope that you have a wonderful trip to Saskatchewan! Be sure to send our greetings to everyone there and we'll see you when you get back. Oh, and Happy early Birthday Naomi---sorry we won't be there to celebrate with you. Hope its a good one :)

Puzzling isn't it?

So this is another one of my plea's for help. Some of you may have noticed that my sidebar doesn't show up at the top of my blog. I decided to switch to this new template because I was getting bored with the other one, but when I changed it, my sidebar shifted to the bottom right-corner of my blog. I looked into this problem on the "blogger help" page but all it said was that some of my posts or links may be too long for the template and that I should just look through my template and adjust anything that extends past its regulations. But how in the heck do I do that? I have scrolled through my settings quite a few times but I can't tell whether anything is too long. So if any of you "blog pro's" could assist me with this problem, it would be greatly appreciated! And I guess what is puzzling me the most is that on my computer at home, there is no problem. The sidebar is right where it should be at the top---it only seems to be on other people's computers that it doesn't show at the top. Could this be because we have a Mac? I'm really starting to wonder about all this Mac business... ;)

The usual Sunday evening with the Esau side of the family

Crazy Times at CFP

This Saturday, Todd, Brianne, Jon and I decided to play a bit of mini-golf at good ol' Castle Fun Park. I had only ever played the outdoor course, so this time we opted for the indoor Jungle course. It was definitley a good time! We kept score for about the first 3 holes but seeing as "we are all not being honest" (direct quote from Brianne), we decided to scrap the score and just have fun. (Jen Glen...if you are reading this...I am quite certain that the lack of competitive play would have made you nuts ;)...) We had some good laughs...especially when both Todd and Brianne's balls ended up way off course and they decided to "play it as it lies!" Actually, we all ended up doing a lot of "playing it where it lies!" What a fun night! And we look forward to what adventures next weekend holds!

Its true...they really ARE this cute!

Just thought I'd show you a few pictures of our neice and nephew, Ava and Konrad. I don't really have much else to report about the week and seeing as I haven't posted in a few days, I thought I should at least put a few new pictures on.
Don't you just want to sqeeze 'em!? They really are the cutest kids ever!

My Latest Creation

I got the craziest deal on a 4ft x 2ft canvas this weekend and decided to get right to painting. This is what I came up with and was actually quite pleased with the outcome! Sure beats having a blank wall anyway :)

Just the Two of Us

Jon and I finally had a Saturday off together. It was so nice to sleep in late and just enjoy each other's company! We went back to the MCC Fall Fair to have a borscht and bun lunch and then did some furniture shopping. There were some incredible deals at United Furniture Warehouse and MJM Furniture but unfortunately we didn't come away with any purchases. We did a bit more shopping, grabbed a coffee and then spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Mill Lake Park. What a beautiful spot!! I had been to Mill Lake once before, but it was with our nephew Konrad and so we spent the whole time at the pool and playground. I had no idea how beautiful the park was and what a great walking trail there is. We seriously had one of the best days we've had together in a long time. It was so nice to just stroll along the lake and to be able to take our time. No distractions, no place we had to be---just the two of us, a gorgeous sunny day and God's wonderful creation! I didn't want the day to end! Jon, I just want you to know how much I appreciate you and how proud I am to call you my husband! I cherish every single moment I get to spend with you...and I love how much we laugh together! I love you SO much!! Thank you for a truly incredible day!

A Little MCC Fall Fair + Todd & Brianne = GOOD TIMES!

This weekend was the annual MCC Fall Fair in Abbotsford, so after work on Friday, Jon and I headed into Abby to enjoy some good Mennonite food and fellowship. We feasted on wonderful homemade verinike and farmer sausage for supper and spent the evening checking out the various displays. It was great fun....and it got even better when we ran into our friends Todd & Brianne. They walked around with us for a while and then invited us back to their place for a movie. So we stopped at Roger's for the "flick" and then walked over to Save-On for some "movie night treats"---including Todd's choice of over 1/2kg of Runts!! Anyway...we had an awesome time with them as usual and continue to praise God for blessing us with such great friends! Can't wait to hang out again soon---Hey Brianne, how 'bout a little CFP next time!!? :)

And the Scissors went Chop, Chop

Just thought I'd let you know that yesterday I did something that is very tough for me to do----I cut my hair! I know, I know...you're probably saying "Bonnie, what's the big deal?" And you're right...its only hair, but when you have a mop like I do, chopping the ol' curls is a tough thing to do, and more importantly, to find SOMEONE you trust to chop it is even harder. It may not look like I cut off that much but you'd be surprised at how long my hair was getting and the heap that was lying on the hairdresser's floor when I left. The biggest change is all the layers now too---all my layers had grown out from the last time I cut my hair---now I actually have a bit of shape.
So alas, it is done and now that some of the "chaos" is gone, I cannot lie that I am feeling quite good about the decision. I am already enjoying the fact that showering takes a whopping 10-12 minutes less and styling it takes much less time as well. HOORAY for more sleep-in time every morning! :) I think I am going to be just fine ;)

At Last...Our Home!

OK so this post is LONG overdue seeing as we've been living in this place since June but I promised to show pictures, and here they are!

This is our entry, so this is what you see when you first come in our door. Follow the stairs up, and you're in our cozy loft!

Our very cozy living room---still not quite satisfied with the furniture layout but I'm working on it :) I guess you could say that's the designer "picky-ness" coming out!

Here's the other angle of the living room

Our dining area

The TINY kitchen---it does the trick! There's a dishwasher so nothing else matters :)

Bathroom---this is all pretty straight forward but I'll continue with the comments so it feels like I am actually taking you on a "tour" of our house! ;)

Our bedroom---we also have a guest bedroom but it was full of stuff so I didn't add a picture of it---but feel free to visit 'cause we do have the space!

"The View from the Top!"---this is taken from our office which is in the very peak part of our loft. Its pretty sweet! That's what the ladder leads to in case you were curious from the other pictures.

So there you have it! Hope you enjoyed the virtual tour of our home. And if you haven't seen it in person, it obviously means you're due for a visit! ;)

Sunday Afternoon at Harrison

We spent Sunday afternoon at Harrison Hot Springs with my parents and sister, enjoying the sunshine, sand castles and sweet live music! It was such a nice way to spend the day! :)
