One more thing worth mentioning...

There is actually just one more thing that I should really blog about before taking a break for the Christmas holidays. Many of you have been wondering about this for quite some time now and I'm here to tell you that if you had a "hunch" about us, your hunch was correct........

Jon and I are expecting our first child!!

I'm exactly 14 weeks pregnant today and we're SO thrilled to finally be sharing the news with everyone! We decided to keep it a "secret" (only family and very close friends have known until now) just until we were out of the first trimester--- to be on the safe side :) It was VERY hard to keep it to ourselves and its starting to feel much more real, now that we're able to share about it.

Unfortunately, like almost every other woman I know, the first trimester was fairly brutal. Right around the 6 week mark, the nausea/throwing up and extreme exhaustion hit. I not only had "morning sickness," but ALL DAY sickness from week 6 'til about week 11 or 12. It also didn't help getting the flu right around that time too. I'm still experiencing some morning sickness but it has tapered off a lot compared to how bad it was prior to the 3 month point. I'm really hoping that this second trimester will prove to be better than the first, as I'm promised it will be :)

Our due date is June 22 which means that unless the baby is very late, we'll have another June birthday in the Esau family. Jon, his Dad, his brother-in-law Erich, and his nephew Konrad, are all in June. So we'll either be adding another boy birthday just to take the count up to 5, or, we'll have a girl to even out the score a bit :) We've decided to wait until the delivery day to find out the gender of the baby and will be overjoyed, no matter which way things go. As long as he/she is healthy and doesn't weigh too much, we'll be thrilled ;) Though I think the weight issue matters more to me than Jon :)

So to finish off the post, I'll leave you with a picture of the "baby bump" at 14 weeks...

Hooray! It's out and now Leah can stop pestering me about not saying anything to you about it publicly. Ha.

Congrats again! The next months will creep by slowly and all too fast at the same time, so enjoy. Praying you continue to feel better and get in lots of couple time, sleep and all the other things that seem to take a leave once the bundle comes.

Happy Christmas to the three of you!

Sarah

Big babies are awesome! Well I think so anyway. We want to go bigger next time (in a few years)...okay maybe not. Don't worry about that yet just enjoy the quietness while you can.

Okay so I didn't have a hunch but I was just thinking the other day that you are going to be great parents!!! I am totally thrilled for you guys! I am sorry you had all day sickness, it was a part of my life while being pregnant and it sucks. I hope you can enjoy it despite that yucky feeling. If you want any tips on dealing with it let me know. Anyways congrats again!

Yep, that bump definitely wasn't there before. :) I remember thinking I was MASSIVE at this point...little did I know what was about to come.

By the way...the maternity shirts that seem WAY to long at this point WILL be too short by the end, SO DON'T DRY them--even if your tempted to. And I totally recommend belly bands. Mine was worn regularly from your stage till just recently.

Thanks for the advice Heidi! And yes, I've actually been wearing a belly band since about the 6 or 7 week mark. None of my pants have fit since then, so I wear them with the button undone and the fly down and the belly band has been a life saver!! Such a great invention!

Congratulations!!! I had ALL DAY sickness as well with Liliana - HORRIBLE. I'd have to pull over on the way to drive Kaylie to school so that I could harf out my open door. First trimester sucks, but the middle is the BEST. Enjoy ;)

Jon & Bon - once again, a big CONGRATS!! Clay & I are so pumped for you and think you will make awesome parents!!! We just don't like it that you live so far away so our kids won't be able to be regular playmates. You look awesome and I also hope the sickness leaves you soon!! I was never sick, but instead gained a crapload of weight and have nasty varicose veins to go along with that...pictures to come.... ;)

Bonnie, you know I don't really know how I got connected to your blog, maybe through Melissa and Andrea 'Berg'. Anyway, I come by every so often and just wanted to say how thrilled I am for you and your husband.
It's actually funny because I go through these phases of feeling like the only one who is not sharing the joyous news of being pregnant but always came to your blog and thought, well they look about my age and they are not yet pregnant. I came today and was thrilled to read the message. I am not worried at all, cause I know my time will come and it will be the perfect timing in my life.
Blessings to you and your husband as you begin this adventure.
